I got a new breeding female, named Lucy, in December and she is already twice the size of my last female! She is a beautiful black irish (mismarked sadly) dumbo (perfect ears) rex (still curly after molting) with great type (AFRMA definition). I am so exited to have her in my ratty family and she will soon have a cage mate** when her cousin comes home in a month or so. As soon as she reaches 11 ounces she is going to be bred to my Grand Champion agouti berkshire hairless dumbo male Koden who is currently at around 35 ounces -feels heavier- and all muscle. I am expecting all black and agouti dumbp rexes out of the litter but there is a tiny fraction of a chance that I will get blues. If everything works out the babies will be born in late spring. So drop me a line if you want any more information, have a question, or just want to chat. I'll have my website up as soon as I have time to finish the last touches.
** Lucy is being housed alone as of current because of horrible circumstances. I had a two year old agouti berkshire female named Dante ready to be her cagemate. Her personality was perfect to be housed with younger rats and she had already had two roomates previously (another long story about a rescue high-white and a tiny female smaller then a 6 week old baby). But a few weeks before I got Lucy she got very agressive and decided to let her live out her days solo for her and my other rats safety. Then a few days before Lucy came home all of Dante's health problems (caused by poor care and being bred to young to many times while she was under the care of her previous owner) caught up with her and she passed away in her sleep before Lucy even came home.
