sarielangel: need help, injured rat

My 4 week old baby rat boo is missing part of his tail. there is blood everywhere.
I have no Idea how it happend. Ive seperated all the rats, and boo is in a quantine cage to heal..
Is there anything else i can do? can you put neosporin on it? I dont have teatree oil. It looks like the bleeding has stoped but i dont want it to get infected. It must hurt something horrible because little boo squeals in pain when you touch it.

thanks for the info. Ive had little boo since he was born.(gender mix up at the shop)he was with his dad and his brother max in the big cage for over a week without any problems. *sigh* they are all in seperate cages now. I have no idea how it happend, but i found the tail peice on the floor in the center of the cage, so its not like he got it stuck in anything. I'm thinking maybe Dad got ahold of it.

Its been cleaned..and I applyed neosporin..but im pretty sure he's licked most of it off by now. Vet said it was ok. he was in a wire cage..but I didint notice any blood on any of the bars. Is it possible one of the other rats got him by the tail? or maybe he got it stuck in the hammock somehow? (he is a rather active little rattie) Is there any way to stop this from happening again? or to the other rats?
I didint think they would get stuck in that cage at all, the bar spacing is a 1/4 inch. should I get a different cage?

Could you post things like this to ratties, or rat_health? These posts, are NOT on topic for this community which is meant for breeders, and info on responsible breeding.
